If you decided to earn a certificate at Scrum.org or just learn Scrum better, my quizzes should greatly help you:
- Professional Scrum Master™ (PSM I™) preparation quiz – learning mode | real mode
- Professional Scrum Product Owner™ (PSPO I™) preparation quiz – learning mode | real mode
- Scaled Professional Scrum™ (SPS™ aka Nexus™) preparation quiz – learning mode
When I decided to pass PSM I exam, I found no good free practice quizzes. The open assessments at Scrum.org are fine, but the number of available questions is too small. I decided to help all the Scrum learners by creating these free quizzes. You will learn the Scrum Guide by heart and get an idea of the real assessments.
There are two quiz modes:
- Learning Mode – Each question has an immediate explanation. No time limit. All quiz questions are available. Pass it several times and you will be prepared well for the real assessment.
- Real Mode – It is very similar to the real assessment. No correct answers and explanations. There are 80 randomly selected questions and 60 minutes. Try it and get the feeling of the real assessment!
All the quizzes based on the Scrum Guide v2017.
If you are looking for more questions or want to clarify some weird Scrum topic, take a look at Scrum Questions page.
Questions about the real exams and the quiz itself are answered at Quiz FAQ page.

Hi Mikhail,
Will you help me explain little more about following statement.
Product Backlog refinement usually consumes no more than 10% of the capacity of the Development Team.
Thanks in advance.
I guess it says 10% but if it need more time or more meetings it can be taken
Thanks for answering this question. It looks like I missed it.
I agree. Not more than 10% of total time spent on refinement is a good goal.
However, some complex features may require more time.

One of the question from PSM 1 learning mode :
Who is allowed to participate in the Daily Scrum?
The Scrum Master : YES (My answer)
The Product Owner : YES (My answer)
The Key Stakeholders
The Development Team : YES (My answer)
Explanation : The Daily Scrum is an internal meeting for the Development Team. If others are present, the Scrum Master ensures that they do not disrupt the meeting
My question:
If the question was who is REQUIRED to attend daily scrum then my answer would be only the DT. but this question here asks who is ALLOWED to attend DS – isn’t SM allowed to attend? Not so much sure about PO.
Thanks in advance
Hmm, i read some posts on Scrum.org forum. And I think the question is about Attending DS vs Participating DS. So PO and SM can attend DS but they are not allowed to participate (talk) unless required by DT.
Wow.
Hi Sharad,
You are right. People outside of the Development Team can come and listen at the Daily Scrum, but cannot speak.
I answered a similar question here: https://mlapshin.com/index.php/blog/scrum-questions#participate_vs_attend
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Hey here is written “Participate” so only dev team can
Why you think Scrum master is required for the Daily Scrum..??
Here is another example of one I missed. The Scrum Master, from what I’ve seen, doesn’t HAVE to be there. Its ultimately the responsibility of the Dev team to have the DS. *Yes, the SM should have taught them and coached them on the importance of having the DS… but the SM doesn’t HAVE to be there.
Greg, thanks for the explanation.
1. I cant find where to start a new thread of questions…so, I guess here is as good as any.
2. I went thru 40 questions, and about 50% of them, werent in any study material I found. The above question was one I missed as well.I had the same answers, and got it wrong. It went downhill from there. I’ve been studying for at least a month, and I feel as though the PSM1 test is far beyond anything I’ve learned over the past month.
Hi Greg,
Normally, there is “Leave a Comment” section at the bottom of the page. However, it is hiding if you click “Reply” for a post on the page. You need to cancel the reply it to see the section back.
Did you try my quizzes? What was your score? Usually, people report the quizzes are quite close to the real exam.
What topics, in your opinion, are missing in my tests?
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Hey Mikhail,
This message to thank you for these tests; they helped a lot in understanding Scrum better and in securing my “PSM I” certification in only one step (96.3%). 🙂
I wrote a LinkedIn article about my certification experience, hope it might help other people:
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/my-experience-becoming-certified-scrum-master-joris-vleminckx-pmp/
Hi Joris,
I am glad I helped you.
The article will be very useful for anyone preparing to PSM I exam.
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Dear Mikhail,
Thanks for setting up these quizzes.
The question for “Please, select a time-box for each Scrum event” has wrong answers for Sprint Planning and Sprint Review. The should be in reverse as the Scrum Guide says:
Scrum Review. This is at most a four-hour meeting for one-month Sprints.
Sprint Planning. This is at most a three-hour meeting for one-month Sprints.
Thanks again!
Sprint Planning. -> Sprint *Retrospective
Hi mimibar,
Thanks for providing the feedback.
Most likely, you faced this issue: https://mlapshin.com/index.php/blog/quiz-faq/#orderIt
This is the way how the quiz engine shows incorrect questions for “order it” questions.
Best Regards,

Hi Mikhail,
I passed PSM I yesterday. And in my preparation your quizzes played a very important role. Thank you for all the hard work.

Any open assessment link for PSM-II
Hi,
I think, some questions in my quiz can be considered as level 2 questions. However, I do not have a special PSM II quiz.
I know this web site contains 8 sample questions for PSM II.
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Who should decide who will be the Scrum Master for a new Scrum Team?
Of course the team should do this because in Scrum all teams are self-organizing.
I would like to thank you for the perfect work , i just passed my PSM1 today with 93.8 % first attempt thanks to the quiz !! Thank you again !!
NIATI Abderaouf
Hi Niati,

Hi Mikhail,
one of your questions i believe to be worded incorrectly.
– Who is allowed to participate in the Daily Scrum?.
The answer is The Development Team and The Scrum master. surely the question should be worded as “Who is required to participate the daily Scrum”
Thanks
Anthony
Hey Anthony,
I was at vacation and just found your question.
It is better to answer it late than never. 🙂
The Scrum Master is not required to participate in the Daily Scrum. The SM should explain importance of having the meeting to the team and make sure it happens.
So, usually with a new team a Scrum Master spends several first Daily Scrums, then attendance for the SM is not required (unless the SM combines the role with the Developer role in the team).
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Hi Mikhail,
First of all thanks for making this site, it’s helping me lot while preparing and getting started for PSM-1.
I am planning to give PSM-1 exam in end of July. I scored 95%, 97% and 100% respectively in your real mode exam.
What else source should i visit to learn more tricky and updated question ?
Requesting People who have cleared just now PSM-1 please post your question here so it can help me.
I would recommend taking the open exams at Scrum.org. Definitely try PSM and PSPO open exams.
You could also read some articles from the recommended list: https://www.scrum.org/resources/suggested-reading-professional-scrum-master
Hi Mike,
One question:
The Sprint Backlog contains items pulled only from the Product Backlog. Is this statement true or false.
A simple answer is “true”.
However, during a Sprint, some additional work can be discovered. Then the team could renegotiate the Sprint scope with the PO to include the new work. If the work is included, it means it was not in the Product Backlog.
Hi Mike,
Another question:
Who can remove and replace Sprint Backlog items during the Sprint?
The Scrum Guide answers it:
“Only the Development Team can change its Sprint Backlog during a Sprint.”
Hi Ajay,
I had to remove several your questions because they look like taken from somewhere and could be copyrighted.
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Hi Mike,
How many weeks are required to release increment based on the following information: – 240 points release backlog – 3-week per Sprint – 45 points velocity per Sprint ? How to calc this and does such questions comes in exam.
Please help.
Hi Ajay,
Definitely, the real exam does not contain such questions.
I would answer to this question just doing some simple math: 240/45=5.3 It means 6 sprints should be enough to cover 240 points. 6×3=18 weeks.
However, in real life you would never have so precise estimations. Team velocity is changing (vacations, sick leaves, team changes), new work could be discovered, and so on.
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Hi Mikhail,
I’ve recently passed PSM I exams. I’ve also made a donation to show my appreciation. Thanks for the effort you put into this site. Thanks
Hi,
Thank you so much for using my quizzes and your donation.
I am happy I helped you.

Hi,
For the question “Who is allowed to participate in Daily Scrum?” This question was multiple choice so I select below option and it shows wrong:
1) Development Team 2) Scrum Master 3) Product Owner
But, the answer is given on this site is “Development Team”. I feel all 3 allowed in the daily scrum, can anyone please elaborate or the answer on this site needs to update?
Hi Ramdas,
This question is a multiple choice question on purpose. Otherwise, it would be very easy to answer.
The idea behind it is the difference between “participate” (come and speak) and “attend” (come and remain silent). I remember, I got a similar question during the real exam. Only the Development Team members should speak during the Daily Scrum. Others can come, but should not interrupt the flow of the meeting.
Check my full answer here: https://mlapshin.com/index.php/blog/scrum-questions#participate_vs_attend
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Thanks for your response. I hope the real exam also consider these concepts.
I have confusion on below 2 questions:
Q 1) Who create increments?
Correct answer given on this site is: The Development Team
Q 2) What belongs solely to the Development Team? (Multiple choice options)
Correct answer given on this site is: The Sprint Backlog
My question here is, why for Q 2, the answer “The increment” should also be correct along with the Sprint Backlog. i.e. The Sprint Backlog and The increment should be correct answer for Q 2.
Can anyone please help on it?
Hi Ramdas,
I answered your question here: https://mlapshin.com/index.php/blog/scrum-questions/comment-page-14/#comment-1103
