If you decided to earn a certificate at Scrum.org or just learn Scrum better, my quizzes should greatly help you:
- Professional Scrum Master™ (PSM I™) preparation quiz – learning mode | real mode
- Professional Scrum Product Owner™ (PSPO I™) preparation quiz – learning mode | real mode
- Scaled Professional Scrum™ (SPS™ aka Nexus™) preparation quiz – learning mode
When I decided to pass PSM I exam, I found no good free practice quizzes. The open assessments at Scrum.org are fine, but the number of available questions is too small. I decided to help all the Scrum learners by creating these free quizzes. You will learn the Scrum Guide by heart and get an idea of the real assessments.
There are two quiz modes:
- Learning Mode – Each question has an immediate explanation. No time limit. All quiz questions are available. Pass it several times and you will be prepared well for the real assessment.
- Real Mode – It is very similar to the real assessment. No correct answers and explanations. There are 80 randomly selected questions and 60 minutes. Try it and get the feeling of the real assessment!
All the quizzes based on the Scrum Guide v2017.
If you are looking for more questions or want to clarify some weird Scrum topic, take a look at Scrum Questions page.
Questions about the real exams and the quiz itself are answered at Quiz FAQ page.

Hello Mikhail,
I have just finished my PSM I certification with 93,8% and your learning test was a huge help for me. Thank you for all the work.
Hi,
I am glad we all here helped you. Keep going!
Thanks,
–Mikhail
How close to your questions are the real exam?
Hi,
I do not have access to the real exam questions. I just passed it once.
However, all the questions in my quizzes are based on the Scrum Guide. It makes sure they cover the same topics as the real exam.
There is no need to have exactly the same questions as long as they cover the same topics.
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Hi Mikhail,
thanks for this great preparation site for Scrum. Using it i have passed PSM 1 with 98% score 🙂

Hi Mikhail,
Hope you are doing well. Thanks for these quizzes.I have no previous experience with Agile and I have been preparing for PSPO.Quite nervous at the moment.Trying my best to prepare and pass the exam in 1st attempt.
I need your kind advice on the following queries-
1.Check all formal opportunities to inspect & adapt ?Should Sprint review be a part of the answer. As part of the scrum guide its mentioned that “This is an informal meeting, not a status meeting”.
2.Who is allowed to make changes to sprint backlog?why is it only development team? as when dev.team thinks they can not complete any PBI in the sprint time, the product owner helps them to reduce the scope.
3.Who tracks the sprint progress?is it only dev team?as part of the new new product owner article its written under product release decision maker” involves tracking the amount of work remaining towards a goal and updating that amount of work remaining every sprint in the sprint review”
4. In the question how does DoD help the scrum team, why is inspection & adaptation not part of it? Coz DoD will tell us if we are deviating from something and adapt accordingly.
Looking forward to your response.Kindly help.
Thanks & Regards
Debapriya dey
Hi Debapriya,
I am sorry. I just noticed your request.
I will answer it. Hopefully, it will help to the other learners.
1.Check all formal opportunities to inspect & adapt ?Should Sprint review be a part of the answer. As part of the scrum guide its mentioned that “This is an informal meeting, not a status meeting”.
Mikhail: yes, all the Scrum events are formal opportunities to inspect and adapt, including the Sprint Review.
2.Who is allowed to make changes to sprint backlog?why is it only development team? as when dev.team thinks they can not complete any PBI in the sprint time, the product owner helps them to reduce the scope.
Mikhail: yes, only the Dev Team can change the Sprint Backlog because they own it. For example, they could add newly discovered work. The PO helps them to decide what they should do if for some reason they cannot finish all the planned items on time.
3.Who tracks the sprint progress?is it only dev team?as part of the new new product owner article its written under product release decision maker” involves tracking the amount of work remaining towards a goal and updating that amount of work remaining every sprint in the sprint review”
Mikhail: The Dev team tracks their progress towards the Sprint Goal. The PO tracks progress on a higher level, e.g. some release goals that include work of several Sprints.
4. In the question how does DoD help the scrum team, why is inspection & adaptation not part of it? Coz DoD will tell us if we are deviating from something and adapt accordingly.
Mikhail: I do not remember the exact question. Probably, it asks to pick the best two answers and inspection&adaptation is not as good as the other ones.
Best Regards,
–Mikhail
Many thanks for the quiz. I passed PSM I with 90%! I also made a small donation because I admire the work done into this project! Thanks a lot!
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for sharing your success here and for the donation!
It inspires me in supporting this web site.

Also successfully passed the PSM1 thanks to your Scrum quizz! So I was thinking that a donation will be the least I can do
Have a great day
Hi,
Congrats!
Thanks for sharing your success.
I am glad my quizzes helped you.

This quizz is very very accurate. It helped me a lot to pass the PSM I. It is the best free resource you will find. Small donation is almost mandatory!
Thanks very much for your effort.
Hi joangil,
Thanks for using my quizzes, sharing your success and the donation!

Great stuff, man! Thanks a lot for compiling those questions. Your test does pretty much resemble the real exam. Just few notes on the roles and events. I guess there has to be more clarity if Stakeholders are allowed to participate the Sprint Planning. In the question “Select the two meetings in which people outside the Scrum Team are allowed to participate.” your correct answers are The Sprint Review and The Sprint Planning, while in the question “In which meetings the Key Stakeholders are allowed to participate?” only The Sprint Review considered correct. So, the logical statement based on these two questions/answers would be “People outside the Scrum Team are allowed to participate the Sprint Planning if they are not the Key Stakeholders” which I have not seen in the Scrum Guide and it also sound non-sense in my opinion. Thanks again and all the best! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Hi,
Very careful reading and thinking!
In your chain of reasoning you are missing one important detail. There are two groups of outside people mentioned in the Scrum Guide who interacts with the Development Team:
* You correctly mentioned the Key Stakeholders. They are usually the people who are using the Product and the people who are funding it.
* You are missing the experts (usually fellow employess from the same Organization) whom the Dev Team can invite to the Sprint Planning for technical or domain advice.
So, the Key Stakeholders go to the Sprint Review. The experts can come to the Sprint Planning.
I believe, it should be obvious now how to answer the questions you are confused with.
Take care!
–Mikhail
I read in the scrum guide about outsiders in the Daily scrum too – ‘The Daily scrum is an internal meeting by the Development team. If OTHERS are present then the scrummaster ensures that they do not disrupt the meeting.’
Who are those OTHERS that the development team invites. In Sprint planning it is Experts. In Sprint Review it is Key Stakeholders. Who are those others in the Daily scrums ?
A good catch!
In real life a Scrum Team does not work in isolation. There are always people around like other teams, upper Organization management, etc. So, from time to time someone could come to one of the Daily Scrums. For example, a colleague visiting from a different office, the PO who wants to share an important update, etc.
In this situation the SM should make sure the team has the Daily Scrum in the convenient manner and all the visitors wait until the Daily Scrum is over. Then they can discuss other matters.
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Привет, мой дорогой друг, большое Вам спасибо !
Hello Mikhail !
I have passed the PSM 1 with 95% score today. I am extremely happy and would like to express my thanks to this blog and quizzes.
These helped me immensely 🙂
I would also highlight that the questions were quite wordy and can be pretty misleading. They consumed a lot time and I had literally only 3 minutes to review. I could only review 2-3 questions.
Thanks a lot again.
Hi,
Thanks for the greetings in my native language and sharing your success here.
I am really happy I helped you to pass the exam!
Best Regards,
–Mikhail
hello, Mikhail, I got the PSM I certificate just now with 91.3% passed! thanks for your quiz!
Hi,
I am glad my quizzes helped you!
–Mikhail
Yesterday I passed PSM1 with a 92.5% score!
Thank you so much for your scrum quizzes. They greatly helped me. For future candidates, please be informed some of the questions asked in the real exam are experience-based so read them thoroughly before answering. Your choices should reflect as if you are the owner of scrum guide.
Things I did:
– Re-read scrum guide 5-6 times.
– Did MLapshin’s LM 4 times until I got 100% every time.
– Did Scrum open assessment 6 times until I got 100% every time (you might see similar questions in real exam)
– Had some scrum experience as the company I work at is adopting it aggressively.
This quiz definitely deserves donation!
Thanks for sharing your success and the valuable tips for other learners!
Best Regards,
–Mikhail
Hi Mikhail,
I passed PSM I 2 days back
Thanks for the amazing question bank that you have put up
1. I studied Scrum Guide several times – made notes.
2. I took learning mode on this site & then real mode ( until I scored 95% on real mode)
3. In parallel I was revising Scrum Guide & Scrum Questions section on this site
4. I started taking PSM I open assessments on Scrum.org after I scored 95% on real mode here.
5. I continued taking open assessments until I consistently started scoring 100%. Also I took PSPO open assessments as suggested by you Mikhail which really helped
6. Also went through Scrum Glossary on Scrum.org and videos on Scrumtrainingseries.com
7. Lastly for those of you from places where power outages may happen, you can take this exam from your mobile phone.
Just try it taking couple of open assessments from mobile to ensure it works. Better to have latest OS & browser on your mobile. I took the exam from my mobile
Hi Shashikiran,
Congrats with passing the exam!
I am glad my tests helped you.
Thanks for sharing your success and your preparation tips.
Best Regards,
–Mikhail
I passed PSM1 yesterday with 91.3% in my first attempt.
I am really thankful to Mikhail for this wonderful tests.
I would like to my preparation here,
– I started with the affordable online courses from UDEMY, This helped me understand the basics of scrum
– After finishing the course, I started giving the Scrum Quizzes here on this website.
– I gained confidence after giving the tests from 5-6 times.
– After taking tests from 10 times I was getting 90+% all the times.
– Finally I took another affordable course for just test questions on UDEMY.
My request to all the aspirants,
– Read Scrum Guide at least 3 times.
– Best way is take tests 1-2 times then read scrum guide and then again take tests. This will really boost your confidence and knowledge.
– Also read Scrum of Scrums/ Scaling Scrum / Nexus guide, there are around 10-12 questions on it in the exam. Do not ignore it.
– 50% questions are scenario based and few of them are really tricky so prepare yourself for that as well.
I really recommend tests on this website for gaining confidence, once you are comfortable then try look for other free test questions or very affordable courses on Udemy. they have question bank at the end of the course.
Once again Mikhail, thank you so much..
God Bless,
Cheers,
Hi Tejas,
Congrats with passing the exam!
Thanks for using my quiz and your tips.
Best Regards,
–Mikhail
Hey Mikhail,
just dropping by to say thank you for the effort on doing and maintaining these tests.
I passed my PSPO I certification last week with a 93.8% score. A good part of it is thanks to the practice assessments that you offer here.
For the people studying, here’s what I did:
+ I have more than a year background as a PO, even though I was not certified, and using scrum every day
+ I read the Scrum guide. After a first read, I went again an took notes
+ Did some open assessments from Scrum.org (PO, Open) until I got a solid 100% on almost every try
+ Did assessments here (SM and PO) until I got 100% on every try
+ I’m also reading on the side “The professional Product Owner” book. Really good so far.
The real exam was a bit more challenging than expected, but a lot of questions were really similar to the ones here.
Again, thanks Mikhail.
Best Regards and lots of luck to anyone who takes the exam!
P.S.: Thank you does not fill your stomach, as I like to say. Small donation (not much, but at least for some beers should be good) is on its way.
Hi Guillermo,
Congrats with passing the exam!
Thanks for sharing your tips here, your words and the donation.
Best Regards,
–Mikhail
Hi Mikhail! I’m not sure your experience with Scrum+UX but wanted some help wrapping my head around some items
– A customer interview would you say that is the ONLY time the product owner should talk to a user??? I can’t seem to find any resources around this thought…
Hi,
For sure, not! The PO is not limited in any interactions with the Key Stakeholders. The PO should do it frequently enough to have a good understanding how to maximize the value of the Product.
Read “Lead Facilitator of Key Stakeholder Involvement” chapter of The New New Product Owner article.
Thanks,
–Mikhail
Hello! Possible types of product backlog items include many different things obviously. Would Conducting a study of customer behaviors fit the needs of a PBI?
What about delivering a feature that requires lengthy customer interviews?
OR Conducting customer interviews to validate the outcome of a previously released feature
OR running an experiment to test the viability of a proposed feature? I would think running an experiment would be the only correct option in my mind…
Maybe all of the above could be potentially product backlog items?
Hi,
To me all these activities look as good candidates to be Items in the Product Backlog.
If a feature is big and requires several Sprints to be finished, it becomes an “Epic” and is divided into smaller parts that can be delivered in a single Sprint.
Thanks,
–Mikhail
What is your understanding of a team using a separate discovery and delivery backlog and what do you think is likely to happen? Will they get the same amount of work done? Will they swarm and pitch in where needed…. Not likely I don’t think? Or it will be easier to track discovery versus delivery work… I think that is likely.
or will function like two separate teams??
I know two of these options are correct but can’t figure it out
According to the Scrum rules every Product should have strictly one Backlog. It is prohibited to have an additional “discovery and delivery” backlog.
I suppose, managing two backlogs leads to different issues in the development process.
When the product backlog has many assumptions what is important to think about? Validating the most risky & fundamental assumptions as clearly as possible?? or would you say it’s just better to ask better questions when interviewing clients & Users to avoid building the wrong solution?
You are right. All the risky items in the Product Backlog should be prioritized. If it involves interviewing clients, it is completely fine.
With running an experiment, is it most important to validate or reject an assumption? That’s my thought on this at least… or would you try to understand how customers are using the interface? What do you think is the most important outcome?
The most important outcome is a vision what is the most valuable for the Product to be done next.
I would recommend this book about Product development. It answers all the questions you asked here and many more: The Lean Product Playbook.
In regards to UX practices on a scrum team, for example my tam. Do you think the most beneficial is the connection to the end-user through feedback loops or you always know when you are doing the right thing? Maybe more rapid delivery of UX work, in the same sprint? Wanted your thought on this!
Again, I would recommend to read the book I mentioned above.
There are different techniques how to get customer feedback. For sure, no one knows what is the right thing to do. It requires constant monitoring of different feedback loops with the key stakeholders.
